Refund & Returns Policy

Last updated 28 August 2026

The return window

You may return most sarees within 7 days of delivery. We use the delivery date recorded by the courier, not the dispatch date, so a slow delivery never eats into your window.

Tell us before you send anything back — see “How to start a return” below. Parcels returned without being raised with us first can take considerably longer to trace and refund.

Condition we can accept

The saree must be unworn and unwashed, with its original tags attached and in the packaging it arrived in. It should carry no perfume, stains, or alteration.

A blouse piece that has been cut or stitched cannot be returned, as it can no longer be sold. This is the most common reason a return is refused, so please be certain of the piece before cutting.

What handloom variation is, and is not

Our sarees are woven by hand on pit looms. Slight irregularity in the weave, small slubs in the yarn, minor asymmetry in a border or motif, and gentle colour shifts between dye lots are inherent to handloom cloth. They are the evidence of a person having made it, and they are not defects.

Because of this, we cannot accept returns on the basis that a weave is not perfectly uniform, or that a colour differs slightly from another piece or from your screen. Screens vary considerably in how they render indigo, madder and unbleached cotton in particular.

Genuine faults — a hole, a tear, a run in the weave, a colour that bleeds in the first wash, or a piece that does not match its listing — are a different matter entirely, and are covered below.

How to start a return

Email care@kenishmasarees.com within the 7-day window with your order number, the piece you would like to return, and a sentence on why. If the reason is a fault, please attach clear photographs in daylight.

We will reply with a return address and instructions. Please do not send anything back before you have heard from us.

Who pays for return shipping

If the piece is faulty, was described inaccurately, or we sent you the wrong item, we arrange and pay for the return.

If you have simply changed your mind, the cost of returning it to us is yours. We recommend a tracked service — until it reaches us, the parcel remains your responsibility.

Faulty, damaged or incorrect items

Please tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs. Damage in transit is much easier to claim against the courier while the evidence is fresh.

We will replace the piece where we can, or refund it in full including any shipping you paid. You will not be asked to cover return postage on a faulty item.

Refunds

Once your return reaches us we inspect it and email you the outcome, usually within two working days of arrival.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–7 working days. How quickly the money then appears depends on your bank or UPI provider rather than on us.

Where shipping was charged, it is refunded only if the return is due to a fault on our side.

Exchanges

Because each handloom piece is effectively unique, we do not run a formal exchange process. Return the saree for a refund and place a fresh order for the one you would prefer — that way you are not waiting on our stock and a return crossing in the post.
